About Us

Petersfield Dance Festival was set up in 2017 by founder Lucy Russell. 

 

Lucy had competed for many years growing up before going on to have a successful career as a dancer travelling the world on cruise ships, touring with shows, being a showgirl in Paris, a backing dancer for Little Mix, Craig David & Tiesto, plus many more amazing opportunities.

 

Lucy along with her team have wanted to create a warm, welcoming environment for young dancers to showcase their talent. The arts industry is a tough one to be part of but one of the most rewarding & by being able to give the dancers the most positive start to that is a key factor to Petersfield Dance Festival.

 

Petersfield Dance Festival has grown from 500 entries in its first year at The Petersfield School to over 2500 at The Festival Theatre Petersfield, a much loved space of the local community. 

 

We are able to seat an audience of 300, we have a professional photographer taking live shots of every performance, which are available to purchase & be printed on site. We have a well stocked pop-up dance shop for any last minute needs. We also have a great cafe area serving hold & cold food & drinks throughout the whole festival. 

 

We carefully choose our adjudicator each year, alot of factors are taken into consideration. Providing a positive experience is at the forefront of who we choose to adjudicate. Current knowledge of the industry is also a big part, the industry rapidly changes and we want to be safe in the knowledge to know the advice that is being given in relevant to helping the students grow as performers which will fit the current performing arts world. As we are full membership of the British and International Federation of festivals all the adjudicators have been trained to the highest level to provide consistent unbiased adjudication.

 

As full members of the British & International federation of Festival we have been inspected and fully vetted by a representative and spot checked over the years we have been running. We feel this is a big positive to our festival and we are proud to be part of the federation, safe in the knowledge that we are providing a festival of the highest quality.
